Get your flat rate, free

A few quick details are all it takes — what comes back is one flat rate in writing, HRBT or Monitor-Merrimac crossing already figured in, with nothing tacked on once the truck reaches your driveway.

Or call (888) 278-9005

Dale looks over every submission by hand before a number goes back out. Asking doesn't commit you to anything — sit on the figure for a day or a month, whatever works. Expect a flat rate built from your actual ZIP codes, not a placeholder guess, usually in your inbox before the afternoon's out. Your details stay with this desk; nobody outside our Virginia Beach office ever sees them.

Dale’s story

Dale Ashworth grew up in Kempsville, where his father served out of Little Creek, and he spent his high school summers loading a regional van line’s trucks out of a Norfolk terminal instead of working a beach job like his friends. He noticed early that the crews who struggled weren’t the ones short on muscle, they were the ones who never checked the report date, the driveway, or the tunnel before quoting a number.

That’s the standard he built the company on: a price only counts as fair once somebody has actually confirmed the PCS paperwork, measured the lane, and picked the tunnel crossing, and done all three before writing anything down.

I kept hearing the same complaint from neighbors about their last move: a low number on the phone, then a much higher one once the truck was stuck at the HRBT during rush hour. I bought my first truck in 2013 so nobody would tell me that story about my own company. — Dale Ashworth, owner

Where the company stands now

More than a decade in, everything, the trucks, the crew, the paperwork, still runs out of the same yard on Holland Road.

  • Started2013 by Dale Ashworth
  • Fleet sizeFive trucks, titled to the company
  • StaffingEvery mover is a W-2 hire, nobody subcontracted
  • StandingRegistered and insured to move households in Virginia

Growth, one hire at a time

Every addition to the crew tracked actual demand, nobody joined ahead of the workload.

  1. 2013: Dale starts the company with one truck and the flat per-truck rate it still runs on today
  2. 2016: Tyrell Banks signs on and becomes the crew’s specialist for PCS and tunnel-timed jobs
  3. 2017: Kayla Whitfield takes over scheduling and starts writing every quote by hand
  4. 2018: Cody Ransom joins, focused on Sandbridge and Croatan’s beach cottages
  5. 2019: Sean Marbury steps into dispatch, routing crews around tunnel backups and storm season
  6. 2020: Faith Delgado comes aboard for storage coordination as the fleet grows to five trucks

What an outside crew misses

A crew that only shows up for the day has to react in real time. Ours plans most of it out beforehand.

  • Report dates for Oceana and Little Creek families get confirmed before dispatch even assigns a truck
  • HRBT and Monitor-Merrimac rush-hour patterns get built into the route the night before, not discovered mid-drive
  • Sandbridge and Croatan’s sandy lanes and HOA rules get checked ahead of time, before a truck tries to squeeze down one
  • A slipped closing or a shifting hurricane track means a storage unit gets booked, not a crew standing around with nowhere to put anything

Who actually handles your move

Five people run this company, and each one has a specific job that doesn’t overlap with the others.

  • Dale AshworthFounder, still takes the toughest PCS and tunnel-timing jobs personally
  • Kayla WhitfieldScheduling, writes every quote herself
  • Sean MarburyDispatch, plans daily routes around the tunnels and I-64
  • Tyrell BanksLead crew chief, runs PCS and cross-town tunnel jobs
  • Cody RansomSenior mover, handles Sandbridge and Croatan’s beach properties
  • Faith DelgadoStorage coordinator, manages closing delays and hurricane reschedules

More than ten years in, I still walk the property and check the tunnel schedule myself before a number goes on paper. That habit is why people call us back instead of getting three more quotes. — Dale Ashworth, owner, JBR Moving Team

Why Virginia Beach families call us for a PCS move against an Oceana or Little Creek report date, a Sandbridge cottage with tight HOA rules, or a cross-town move that has to beat bridge-tunnel traffic

The Short List We Hold Ourselves To

Not marketing copy — just what Dale and the crew commit to on every Hampton Roads job, whether the address is a Sandbridge cottage or a brick rancher in Kempsville.

One Number, Start to Finish

Whatever Dale or Kayla quotes on the phone is what prints on the invoice once the truck rolls up, bridge-tunnel toll and a flight of stairs at the new place already priced in.

Virginia-Registered, Fully Insured

Current Virginia household-goods registration stays on file, cargo coverage rides with every load, and any base housing office or property manager gets proof of it the same day they ask.

Payroll Crew, Not Day Labor

Everyone lifting a box for you draws a paycheck from JBR Moving Team directly — never a name pulled off a board that morning.

What You Sign Is What You Owe

Whatever slows a job down — bridge traffic, a hurricane-season reschedule, a tight turn near Croatan — stays off the invoice. Book the number Dale quotes, and that's exactly what's due once the truck is unloaded.

Same Crew, Start to Finish

Nobody hands your things off to another company partway through the job. The crew loading the truck at your old address is the same crew carrying it into the new one.

We Call Before You Have To Ask

Arrival windows are built with room to spare. If the job ahead of yours runs long, Sean's dispatch desk calls before your window closes, and we make the delay worth your while.
